First presented by THQ in 2011, Saints Row: The Third was later acquired by Deep Silver. It is a fat, comprehensive remake. Everything has been updated, upgraded and polished, as one might expect from a game that originally came out 9 years ago for the Xbox 360 and PS3 consoles. New technologies were used, most notably particle and lighting effects. The game runs on the proprietary game engine Core Technology Group and the Havok physics engine. A new global illumination lighting system makes everything look better in any situation, day or night. in shadows or reflected light from windows. The developers have added brand new graphics and textures and improved the game's animations, increasing the frame count. Players can now enjoy a smoother gameplay on their big 4k screens.

Players find themselves in the fictional city of Steelport, leading the Third Street Saints gang in a city-wide turf war with three other gangs - the Deckers, Morningstars and Luchadores - who together form a united front known as the Syndicate. In addition to turf wars with their rivals, the Third Street Saints must be vigilant about the war on crime brought on by the government's arm, STAG, or Special Tactical Anti-Gang unit.
Third Street Saints is a known name gang with deals in many areas. They have movie deals, their own buildings, their own clothing line and energy drinks. Johnny Gat, the beloved figure of the Third Street Saints, is killed by the Syndicate at the beginning of the game. They will retaliate in kind for the entire game.
The game plays like a series of mini-games. There is no deep story. The whole point of the game is to have fun. Criminal activities or missions help players take control of various Steelport neighborhoods. They differ in quality and complexity, but they are all fun. You participate in a helicopter attack, swing a machine gun through the city streets, shoot innocent bystanders with a flamethrower, run over pedestrians with a pimp muscle car, and beat an enemy to death with a dildo bat. Alongside the main storylines there are side missions that help you earn money and reputation. Most of the actions come with money and respect incentives, first allowing players to buy land, cars, vehicles, then unlocking special abilities.
