Earth, 2051: In a future where humanity has reached the end of its space adventure. Earth is in the midst of an attack by strange extraterrestrial creatures called Relayers. Along with an ancient tradition of alien development that was said to have vanished hundreds of years ago, humans with extraordinary abilities called Starchildren have also emerged. To protect Earth from the attacking Relayer aliens, players command the Stellar Gear unit, humanoid weapons created from the innovations of the terminated alien civilization, and the Asterism, a craft equipped for interstellar travel.
